We slept late and had a leisurely morning on our terrace with honeysuckle, roses and oleander, and sweet fragrances everywhere. After walking to Anduze, we decided to have Sebastien’s father drive us to Nîmes in the afternoon. Nîmes was full of people due to the Feria - bullfights that were being held in the arena, but we decided to push on to Paris due to a threatened train strike. Because of this, we ended up sitting in the aisle with a trapeze artist and her boyfriend, but arrived Paris a little after 7:00 p.m. There we located the Hotel États-Unis near Place de l’Opéra where I had stayed many years ago.
Monday, we had a delightful sunny day touring Paris - the Madeleine, the Tuileries, the Louvre, the Champs Elysée, and the Eiffel Tower - and enjoying the pampered luxury of a well-appointed hotel room with balcony. We followed this with dinner in Place des Vosges near the Bastille, where we had stayed in 1985.
On Tuesday due to a bus strike, we pooled a taxi to the airport. Fortunately our plane was not affected and we had a pleasant return to Chicago.
